At TGS, we offer a spiralised curriculum for Religious Education (RE) that aims to help children explore what people believe and the difference this makes to how they live.
Children are supported in gaining the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief as well as reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living. It provides our children with a range of opportunities to understand, investigate and develop a clear knowledge of a range of world religions.
Children are taught to be respectful of the beliefs of others through gaining understanding of religious beliefs and practices that may be different to their own.
RE is taught weekly, every term. Teachers plan for all sessions with an ambition for pupil retention of key facts which are mapped through knowledge end points, and practical skills from skills end points for each year group. These will be carefully considered when medium term planning to promote accelerated progress. Progress is monitored through the use of pop quizzes and thinking squares which are completed at the beginning and end of each topic.
